Katrina and the Politics of the Anti-Bushies: Victims are still trapped in their attics and the anti-Bushies have launched their campaign to exploit their misery in hopes of "getting" Bush. That liberals, "Blue Staters", and the "mainstream" media hate Bush so much that they apparently revel in the misery of millions is telling. The eagerness of the anti-Bush crowd to use the pain and agony of millions shows they are bereft of values, ideas, plans, faith, hope, or charity.

For this collective, I provide these immediate rebuttals to the hateful and disgusting attempts to use the destruction of a U.S. city for political gain and personal glee:

1. The mayor of New Orleans ordered the evacuation of the city a full 2 days before Katrina hit. Two days after the hurricane, we saw photos of closed, locked bus lots with city school buses parked, flooded, and ruined. Why didn't the mayor- THE MAYOR, not BUSH- order city transportation to start moving residents out and how many city owned buses are now useless?

2. Where did the Mayor of New Orleans and his staff go after they ordered the evacuation? Where did the Police and Fire Chiefs go? Why didn't they evacuate to an alternate command location where they could remain in control? The NOAA forecast the track of Katrina and the city leadership should have been able to identify and move to an alternate command and control location 24 - 48 hours prior to landfall. Why didn't they?

3. Why didn't the Governor of Louisianna and the Mayor of New Orleans request the pre-positioning of National Guard forces prior to landfall?

4. Why didn't the Governor of Louisianna and the Mayor of New Orleans pre-position fuel, generators, water and communications gear outside the expected affected area prior to landfall?

5. Exactly what was the LOCAL and STATE emergency plan for a CAT 5 hurricane in the New Orleans area? Turn of the lights and run like hell?

6. With the casinos and gaming industry generating $500 thousand A DAY in tax revenue up to the day of landfall, why:

a. were the levees not up to snuff?
b. were the first responders totally unprepared (communication gear, alternate command posts, rescue equipment, anti-looting plans, etc)

To me, it's somewhat disgusting for a state receiving $500 thousand a day in tax revenue from just one sector to point the fnger of blame at Bush for the inadequacies of the levees. If there were any real investigative reporters in the "mainstream" media, they would be looking into the six questions above before trying to level charges at Bush for failure to act. I do agree there was massive failure to act- on the part of the Governor of Louisianna and the Mayor of New Orleans.

Think of this- Camille, Andrew, 2004 with four huge hurricanes, and there sits Louisianna with $500 thousand a day flowing into state coffers from the casino's and yet the entire state was totally and completely unprepared for this disaster. Somehow it's Bush's fault because the Civil Engineers were under funded. By the way, they were under funded under Clinton too.....
